The story
Haight-Ashbury remains the beating heart of San Francisco’s “Summer of Love”. Colorful Victorians frame the street where a flower-adorned VW bus rolls past, a skateboarder casually trying to hitch a ride in true hippy-dippy spirit. Street artists create chalk flower patterns as the scene unfolds with spontaneous camaraderie among sidewalk dwellers. This neighborhood gave birth to the 1967 cultural revolution of peace and love. That transformative energy of freedom, creativity, and human connection still flows through every corner, welcoming anyone seeking community over conformity.
